Marie’s Heights May 1863

The second battle at Fredericksburg took place at a geographical position called Marie’s Heights in early May and this is where the First Vermont Brigade took on more heavy losses. As if this battle wasn’t hard enough,  the First Vermont Brigade marched onto the battlefield at Chancellorsville, and eventually onto Gettysburg, under the command of Lewis A. Grant of Brattleboro, Vt.
