Bull Run 1 & 2 (two battles)

The 2nd Vermont Infantry saw combat during the 1st Bull Run Battle. The 2nd Vermont Infantry left Burlington for Washington D.C. June 24, 1861. The unit camped there till July 20 where it was then attached to Howard’s Brigade and sent into battle at the 1st Bull Run July 21, 1861. The Vermonters engaged in battle for thirty minutes. No Vermont soldiers fought in the 2nd Bull Run Battle (August 30, 1862.)
